“Oli” school, or the former “Last school” building in Auroville, designed by architect Roger Anger and built in the 70’s, is considered to be one of the heritage buildings of Auroville.
The new management of the school wished to have an outdoor annexe to this building, which would act as a lunch hub, where the young kids would also participate in the activities of lunch preparation and washing up.
A very simple and low cost building was needed, that at the same time resembled in style the old and prestigious Last School building, very post-modernist in conception and design.
A simple concept was proposed keeping in mind all the factors, functionality of space, aesthetics and stability of structure guiding our design.
